Nov 12, 2019 (newstodate): Iran Air has been quick to step in to fill the void after Italy's announcement on the ban on Mahan Air from December 15, 2019.
Iran Air that earlier operated flight on the route between Tehran and Rome has announced that it will resume flights to the Italian capital from December 2, 2019, with two weekly rotations on the route.
Iran Air is also operating twice-weekly flights on the route between Tehran and Milan.
In January 2019, Germany issued a similar ban on Mahan Air, followed by France in March 2019, and after the end of flights to the Italian destinations only Barcelona and Belgrade will be left on Mahan Air' European route map, in addition to Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi in Russia.
USA has enforced harsh sanctions on Mahan Air, accusing it of illegally transporting military equipment, personnel and munitions into Syria and other war zones.
