Nov 19, 2019 (newstodate): In contrast to most other international airports, Finland's Helsinki Airport seems to be on a solid path to sustained growth in cargo volumes.
In the first 10 months of this year, Helsinki Airport has thus handled a total of 190,692 tonnes of cargo, which is an increase by 15.9 percent, y-o-y.
The growth is clearly driven by international cargo that increased by 16.1 percent, y-o-y, to 182,176 tonnes.
International mail volumes were also up by 11.1 percent to 6,975 tonnes during the period.
October 2019 alone generated a total of 21,581 tonnes, up 18.9 percent, including 20,911 tonnes of cargo, up 20.2 percent, and 505 tonnes of mail which was, however, a drop by 17.4 percent, y-o-y.
