Nov 20, 2019 (newstodate): The latest addition to Finnair's network in Japan is Sapporo New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, where Finnair will start operating on December 15, 2019.
Originally promoted as a seasonal route only, Finnair has now announced that the route will be served year-round from the start, with two weekly rotations from Helsinki using Airbus A330 aircraft.
Sapporo will be Finnair’s fifth destination in Japan and the carrier will be alone in operating direct scheduled flights between Sapporo and Europe.
Next year, Finnair will also start operating direct daily route to Tokyo's Haneda Airport from March 2020 in addition to its daily flights to Tokyo Narita Airport operated for over 35 years.
Finnair will also add capacity to Osaka in Japan by adding two weekly frequencies on the route starting from the 2020 summer season, bringing the total number of weekly flights on the route to 12.
