Nov 07, 2019 (newstodate): For Finnair, October 2019 resulted in a record number of cargo tonnes in a single month and available scheduled cargo tonne-kilometres increased by 13.3 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 16,787 tonnes of cargo was lifted, up 4.7 percent, including 11,775 tonnes on the Asian lanes, an increase by 1.7 percent also due to the doubling of frequencies to Hong Kong and increased frequencies to Osaka.
In the European traffic, Finnair lifted 3,613 tonnes, increasing no less than 44.7 percent, and volumes on the Transatlantic lanes were also up by 35 percent, to 1,351 tonnes, boosted by a lift in capacity by 27.5 percent following the opening of the new Los Angeles route in March 2019
In January-October 2019 total volumes are thus 144,616 tonnes, which is an increase by 11.5 percent, y-o-y.
-Global uncertainty in world trade continued to press the global airfreight market in October, and market softness and yield pressures were especially visible in Finnair's cargo markets in Asia, the carrier says in a comment on the monthly figures.
