Nov 25, 2019 (newstodate): Budapest Airport has now officially opened the first phase of its new Cargo City.
When finished, the BUD Cargo City will comprise an 11,200 sq m building dedicated to forwarders and a 21,600 sq m handling and warehousing terminal as well as a 32,000 sq m ICAO Code F apron with capacity for handling of two ICAO Code F aircraft.
In January 2020, tenants including Kuehne + Nagel, cargo-partner, DB Schenker, EKOL, Kombi Express, Ghibli/ CECZ and Yusen Logistics will move into their new premises at the BUD Cargo City's forwarders' facilities.
In 2018, Budapest Airport handled 146,113 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 60 percent in three years, from 2015 to 2018, and 14.9 up on the preceding year.
When the new facilities are fully developed, the airport's handling capacity will grow to 250,000 tonnes of cargo annually.
