Nov 01, 2019 (newstodate): Undeterred by the current issues with the Boeing 737 MAX software, the Belarus carrier Belavia is looking forward to taking in new aircraft in 2020.
In July 2018, Belavia signed a lease agreement with Air Lease Corporation for four 737 MAX 8 aircraft, as part of intentions to take up to seven aircraft.
The first two aircraft were slated for delivery in May and June 2019, respectively, but have instead been parked pending renewed approvals by FAA.
Once the ban is lifted, Belavia expects to see the start of deliveries, aiming at having all seven Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the fleet during 2020.
Belavia currently operates a fleet comprising seven Boeing 737-800, six Boeing 737-500, five Boeing 737-300, two CRJ-200 LR, six Embraer 195 and four Embraer 175 aircraft.
