Oct 09, 2019 (newstodate): Plans by the US company USAerospace Associates LLC to re-launch Transatlantic flights between the USA and Iceland have been postponed.
Initially slated for mid-October 2019, media have now learned that the company has adjusted its plans and is now aiming at start of services by December 2019, instead.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions are to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington, initially with a fleet of two aircraft and planning to grow to six aircraft by summer 2020 - finally landing at some 10-12 aircraft.
Air cargo will be part of the coming "new" carrier's business plan from the outset, targeting Iceland's exports of seafood to the American market.
A first sign of the coming new service will be the opening of booking facilities from November 2019.
