Oct 17, 2019 (newstodate): With ever-growing volumes of seafood exports out of Norway, handling companies at Oslo Airport are in need of room for expansion.
Handling the Norwegian seafood exports at Oslo Airport are today Roadfeeders, Spirit Air Cargo Handling, GPC, Menzies and DHL, while Avinor's plans for a new handling terminal at the airport are still looming on the horizon.
-GPC has both short- and long-term plans for expansion at Oslo Airport, and we are searching for allocation of space to build an entirely new seafood handling terminal, says Torgil Staalberg, GPC Managing Director.
-We have only been met with positive response to our request for new land allocation from Avinor, but a solution will depend on finalization of the over-all plan for Oslo Airport.
-With only 3,500 sq m in the existing GPC Terminal, handling of the current volumes at about 11,000 tonnes per month is performed at high cost-levels to maintain a satisfactory quality, and this is further aggravated by the intense peak-oriented nature of the freighter services on certain weekdays, notably Tuesdays, says Mr Staalberg.
Gardermoen Perishables Center, GPC is owned by Schenker Norway, DHL and the Norwegian freight forwarder Air Cargo Logistics.
