Oct 04, 2019 (newstodate): The re-opening by SAS of its route from Copenhagen to St Petersburg will benefit from Russia's introduction of e-Visa for citizens from 53 states.
The e-Visa allows for nationals from these countries to enter the Russian Federation through air, sea, automobile, and pedestrian checkpoints located in the territory of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
Comprised by the new scheme that took effect from October 1, 2019, are citizens of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland as well as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
With the e-visa, applications are handled within four calendar days, applicants will need no invitations or confirmations, and will be spared queuing up for hours at Russian consulates - and the e-visa is free!
Part of SAS' summer 2020 schedule, the flights with five weekly Airbus A320neo rotations between Copenhagen and St Petersburg will commence on June 15 and end by late August 2020.
