Oct 04, 2019 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier Tarom is keen to reopen flights between Romania and the USA.
The carrier is reportedly applying for slots at one of New York's airports and plans to launch services from Bucharest in summer 2020 with four-five rotations using leased Airbus A330 or Boeing 787 aircraft.
Visions for resumption of flights to the USA have been in the air ever since the route was last closed down in October 2004.
In the fleet of Tarom are now 25 aircraft, with eight Boeing 737NG aircraft as the largest, while an order for five Boeing 737 MAX 8 has been put on hold in light of the current uncertainty around the aircraft.
A high-level Tarom delegation is also known to have been visiting USA in October 2018 for inspecting two Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
