Oct 09, 2019 (newstodate): Low-cost traffic is dominating the market for air transport in Romania.
Since Wizz Air performed its first Romanian flight from Bucharest in 2007 and made Bucharest its first Romanian operational base on June 7, 2007, the carrier has expanded its Romanian business to offering today flights on 148 routes to 20 countries from ten Romanian airports with a total fleet of 28 Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
Wizz Air thus now accounts for 40.8 percent of the Romanian air travel market, with the Romanian carriers Tarom and Blue Air ranking second and third with a market share at 15.3 percent and 12.8 percent, respectively, while Ryanair comes 4th with 7.4 percent of the capacity offered in the Romanian market.
