Oct 02, 2019 (newstodate): Little has been heard about plans for a revival of WOW Air by the US company USAerospace Associates LLC since the press conference in Reykjavik on September 6, 2019.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions are to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington already in October 2019 with a fleet of two aircraft.
The concept, however, also comprises onward flights from Iceland to European destinations which will require either an own Icelandic AOC or a cooperation with a carrier holding such certificate.
According to Icelandic media, USAerospace has approached the Icelandic domestic carrier Eagle Air with a proposal for cooperation, but with no results.
The revived WOW Air is now reportedly rescheduling its launch flight between USA and Iceland for mid-October 2019.
