Oct 01, 2019 (newstodate): The new Danish carrier Great Dane Airlines has come off to a most promising start - but remains adamant to grow cautiously and in a controlled process.
-We have seen examples of growth killing success and will keep a foot on the brake while enjoying a successful development based on a firm financial foundation, says Thomas Hugo Moller, Great Dane Airlines CEO.
-With currently two aircraft in the fleet, we have fully exploited our capacity and are now acquiring a third ex-Stobart Air Embraer E-195 aircraft as well as recruiting more cockpit and cabin staff.
-The growth is driven by a remarkable demand in the market for charter flights where we have landed several significant orders that will require our full capacity during the next production periods with three aircraft in the air.
-As a result, we will put scheduled operations on hold for now while keeping this segment in the business plan for revival at a later period when capacity allows for this.
-We might easily add a fourth aircraft to operate scheduled traffic already now, but we intend to grow step by step to avoid overheating the organization. And with the strong demand in the charter market, this is where our focus will be for now, says Mr Moller.
Great Dane Airlines now employs 11 pilots, 18 cabin crew members and 16 staff at HQs while now recruiting for staffing the third aircraft.
The aircraft are acquired by the carrier's investor, Eigil B. Christensen, who transfers the aircraft to Great Dane Airlines on a leasing contract,
The carrier launched services with a flight programme comprising two weekly rotations between Aalborg Airport and Dublin from June 21, 2019, adding flights to Edinburgh from June 24 with two rotations, and two weekly flights to Nice from June 26 - during the summer season only.
