Oct 09, 2019: The Norwegian seafood exporters will have to wait for Suparna Airlines to provide two weekly freighter flights from Oslo to Nanjing, in China.
The coming new Boeing 747-400F service was triumphally announced by Avinor to start already by September 1, 2019, but the start-up date was later more prudently scheduled for October 10, 2019.
This will, however, also not hold as the carrier has still not obtained the pertinent landing rights at Nanjing Lukou International Airport, west of Shanghai and serving the greater Shanghai region.
-A launch on September 1, 2019, as announced by Avinor, was never in the schedule, and as the Chinese bureaucracy has been on holiday during the recent Golden Week the issue of application for landing right at Nanjing Airport has run into a delay, says a source close to the operation.
-We are now awaiting fresh information from Suparna but remain confident that the flights will commence shortly, he says.
