Oct 04, 2019 (newstodate): From October 9, 2019, Norwegian seafood exporters will have up to 16 tonnes less belly cargo capacity three times weekly from Oslo to Beijing.
With the first flight on May 10, 2019, the Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines has been operating the route with a mix of Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-200 aircraft as the first direct non-stop passenger route between China and Norway.
The route has proved to only seasonal, however, and the operation is not included on Hainan Airlines' winter schedule.
After this, it remains to be seen if the carrier is returning again in the summer 2020 schedule.
It also remains to be seen if Hainan Airlines may still consider flights between Oslo and Shenzhen.
In late 2017, Hainan Airlines applied with the country's regulator CAAC for licence to operate five weekly flights to Oslo, including three weekly rotations between Beijing and Oslo and two weekly rotations on the route between Oslo and Shenzhen, close to Hong Kong in southern China.
Flights from Beijing were then planned to start from April 2018, with flights from Shenzhen to be added from May 2018.
The flights from Beijing to Oslo were thus realized, albeit with some postponement, while flights to Oslo from Shenzhen obviously were not - so far, at least..
