JHan 17, 2019 (newstodate): Ukraine is soon to start production of new AN-124 Ruslan aircraft, according to the First Deputy Director General of Ukraine's state-run defense company Ukroboronprom.
According to the information, production of this first new aircraft will commence already before the end of this year, but no further details about the setting up of a production line dedicated to the heavy-weight freighter have yet been provided.
The Ukrainian AN-124 aircrft will, however, not contain any Russian parts or components and will be developed in cooperation with Boeing's subsidiary Aviall that is already involved in the production of the new generation regional aircraft An-148/158/178.
Already in 2014, plans were maturing for re-starting production of the AN-24 freighter at the Russian Aviastar-SP plant, but these plans were stalled over the growing miliotary and political conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
