Jan 10, 2019 (newstodate): The only European airline now operating the aging Fokker 50 aircraft, Sweden's Amapola is actually still expanding the fleet.
Earlier focusing on postal flights, Amapola has seen the demand in this market dwindling and is instead returning to serving the passenger market in addition to offering cargo ACMI capacity as well as operating feeder flights for integrators.
In the fleet of Amapola are now 13 Fokker 50 cargo aircraft including two with large cargo door while the fleet of Fokker 50 passenger aircraft has been increased from three to nine units, including six aircraft formerly operated by the now-defunct VLM Airlines and acquired by Amapola in 2018.
With 50 seats, the Fokker 50 aircraft is ideally suited for operating on a number of thin domestic routes in Sweden
