Jan 16, 2019 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport finished 2018 with a significant rise in cargo volumes.
A total of 12,774 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport - an increase by no less than 33.39 percent, y-o-y.
Included in these volumes are 10,331 tonnes of cargo, up 6.1 percent, y-o-y, and 2,443 tonnes of mail, also up 37 percent in 2018.
All months 2018 provided positive growth in cargo volumes, while statistics for July and August 1028 with growth figures at 185 and 226 percent, respectively, are marked by the fact that Vilnius Airport was closed during these months in 2017 due to runway refurbishment.
One major event in the airport's development in 2018 was the opening of Turkish Cargo freighter flights from April 19, with two weekly Airbus A330-200F rotations.
