Still, the country wants even more tourist traffic and is now targeting a number of specific markets to lure new airlines into Georgia.
Presenting the latest tourism statistics, the Minister of Economy of Georgia, Georgi Kobulia, recently revealed future plans for a number of markets, highlighting countries including Norway, Finland, Sweden, Moldova, and Spain.
The minister would thus like to see airlines including Ryanair, Air Europa, SAS, Norwegian and Eurowings launching flights to Georgia.
Statistics prove that Georgia is really booming, seeing an over-all increase in passenger volumes by 28 percent during the first seven months of 2018, with volumes at 2,104,161 passengers, up 27 percent, at Tbilisi Airport, while Kutaisi International Airport served 310,115 passengers, up 33 percent, and Batumi International Airport served 301,597 passengers, an increase by 29 percent.
