Jan 30, 2019 (newstodate): In the air with the first flight on December 1, 2014, the Russian LCC Pobeda has come off to a strong start and is poised on a persistent growth trend.
Currently operating a fleet of 25 Boeing 737-800 aircraft and going up to 30 by June 2019, the carrier is to take delivery of the first of 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from the end of this year, with all deliveries completed by the end of 2022.
The sustained fleet expansion will allow the carrier - a fully-owned Aeroflot subsidiary - to open up more destinations in summer 2019, including 10 new domestic and international destinations to be added in the coming summer schedule, which will bring the network to 210 destinations in and outside Russia.
Also significant, the carrier is increasingly operating flights bypassing Russia that is otherwise a bottle-neck for the country's aviation.
Besides providing Russia with low-cost flights, Pobeda is also active in the air cargo market and was ranked #3 among Russia's Top-5 cargo-carrying airlines in 2018.
