Jan 28, 2019 (newstodate): The Russian LCC Pobeda was to prove only a passing acquaintance at Finland's Helsinki Airport.
In August 2018, a new agreement was signed between Russia and Finland allowing for the entry of a third operator and raising the ceiling from 35 to 42 weekly rotations between Moscow and Helsinki.
This paved the road for Pobeda to introduce flights on the route from Moscow Vnukovo Airport to Helsinki with a daily rotation from October 5, 2018.
Now, however, Pobeda has decided to pull out with the last flight on January 31, 2019.
Instead, Finnair is raising frequency on its route from Helsinki to Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to four daily rotations.
