Jan 07, 2019 (newstodate): Since December 14, 2018, a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operated by Norwegian has been stuck on the tarmac at Iran's Shiraz International Airport. En-route from Dubai to Oslo, the aircraft was forced to perform a safety landing at the airport after an engine failure, and while passengers have since been flown home by other airlines the aircraft remains on the ground. The US sanctions imposed in 2018 on Iran makes it impossible for the Iranian handling company to import the pertinent spares, but a technical team from Norwegian is now in Shiraz to work out a plan for getting the aircraft out of Iran for repair.
Adding to the plights is the fact that US sanctions also mean that all venues for payments to and from Iran have been abrogated.
