Jan 14, 2019 (newstodate): The Japanese media Mainichi Shimbun reports that Finnair is to launch flights to a new destination in Japan in winter 2019. Finnair will thus offer seasonal flights from Helsinki to Sapporo's New Chitose Airport, on Hokkaido Island, with Airbus A330 from December 2019. The route will be operated with two weekly rotations from December 15, 2019, till March 27, 2020, the paper says. The new destination will become the carrier's 5th in Japan. Finnair would also become the first European carrier to operate flights to Hokkaido since KLM left the route from Amsterdam in 2002.
