Jan 08, 2019 (newstodate): Finland's Helsinki Airport noted a modest two-percent increase in cargo volumes in 2018.
A total of 198,634 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, with the bulk consisting of international cargo that was up by 2.8 percent, y-o-y, to 188,523 tonnes.
International mail volumes were, however, down by 7.3 percent to 8,467 tonnes, and domestic cargo and mail also declined by 25.6 percent to a mere 1,644 tonnes.
In December 2018 alone, the airport saw a sharp drop by 8.6 percent, y-o-y, in international cargo volumes, totaling 13.362 tonnes, and international mail volumes also fell by no less than 28.4 percent to only 742 tonnes.
