Jan 28, 2019 (newstodate): From April 2, 2019, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport will greet a new airline expanding the airport's network: Georgian Airways.
The carrier will offer three weekly rotations on the route between Tbilisi and Vilnius, using a mix of Embraer 190, Boeing 737-700 and CRJ-100 aircraft on the three-hour flight.
The route was actually operated some 10 years ago as the now-defunct carrier Lithuanian Airlines launched flights to Tbilisi from May 5, 2008, with two weekly rotations using Boeing 737 aircraft.
Lithuanian Airlines was however bogged down by economic problems and folded its wings on 17 January 17, 2009, leaving the route un-served till now.
Since March 2014, Vilnius has also been connected to another Georgian destination, Kutaisi, with flights operated by Wizz Air.
