Jan 17, 2018 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport will see increasing construction activities in the cargo area at the airport's eastern premises. In addition to the airport's earlier announced plans for a coming new Airport Business Park including new cargo facilities, DHL Express is also to establish a new cargo handling facility to be commissioned in 2023. DHL Express has thus bought a 43,116 sq m land plot adjacent to its existing cargo handling terminal, currently housing the facilities of Gate Gourmet. After pertinent permits and tenders to be conducted in 2019, the Gate Gourmet building will be demolished to give way for a new 26,172 sq m terminal with capacity to sorting of some 37,000 items per hour, which will also require an expansion of the staff by an extra 100 hands, according to the Danish media Licitationen.
