Jan 29, 2019 (newstodate): The official opening date for Turkey's coming new Istanbul Airport has now been set for April 3, 2019.
By this date, passenger air traffic will be moved to this airport from the current Istanbul Ataturk Airport that will be closed for scheduled passenger flights, leaving only the wide-body freighter traffic to remain for yet another period at Ataturk Airport.
When fully developed, the new airport will be handling up to 200 mio passengers per year, fulfilling the government's dreams of seeing Turkey with the world's largest airport easily surpassing today's mega hubs.
