Jan 17, 2019 (newstodate): Sometimes Chinese plans for start of scheduled services to the Nordic region do materialize: Hainan Airlines is really coming to Oslo, in Norway, in 2019! Norway's Avinor has now set the date for first flight by Hainan Airlines from Beijing to Oslo at May 15, 2019. The carrier will be offering three weekly rotations between the two destinations with Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The coming new route will be the first direct non-stop service between Norway and China and will not least attract attention among the exporters of seafood to China. Already in December 2017, Hainan Airlines applied with the country's regulator CAAC for license to operate five weekly flights to Oslo, including three weekly rotations between Beijing and Oslo and two weekly rotations on the route between Oslo and Shenzhen, close to Hong Kong in southern China. The flights from Shenzhen have obviously later been shelved, however - for the time being at least..
With the introduction of the new flight, the current quota of flights between Scandinavia and China is fully utilized, leaving plans for new routes or more operations to future aviation talks.
