Jan 14, 2019 (newstodate): Like every other company, the Swedish/UK ACMI cargo carrier West Atlantic is following the Brexit process closely.
- While the Group is well positioned by having an UK airline and an EU airline, thus being able to maintain operation in both territories, the specific short and long term effects of Brexit on the Group remain undefined at this time, the company's CEO Fredrik Groth said in the latest interim report.
Except for the last remaining Boeing 737-800BCF to be delivered in February 2019, West Atlantic does not plan to take in new aircraft to the fleet after receiving three Boeing 737-800 converted freighters in 2018 as well as adding the fourth Boeing 767-200SF freighter in commercial service in December 2018.
The focus remains on reducing the fleet of 30 ATP freighter aircraft, 15 of which are parked pending sale or cannibalization.
At the same time, the company works hard to regain profitability and financial stability after a troubled 2018 when it had to renegotiate loan terms with creditors.
