Jan 09, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair saw its total cargo volumes modestly up in 2018, to 158,140 tonnes.
This was an increase by 0.7 percent, y-o-y, in a year where available scheduled capacity was up 17.4 percent while revenue scheduled cargo tonne kilometers increased by 12.8 percent, driving down the over-all cargo load factor by 4.9 percentage-points in 2018.
The carrier's focus on the Asian market paid off well with a growth in volumes by 11.9 percent, to a total of 116,369 tonnes and cargo loads factor down "only" 3.2 percentage-points.
Loads on flights to North America were up by 13.8 percent to 10,436 tonnes, while the European cargo volumes dropped 10.5 percent to 22,895 tonnes in 2018.
In December 2018 alone, cargo volumes were up by 11.7 percent to a total of 13,418 tonnes, with European, North American and Asian loads up by 58.1, 30.8 and 9.8 percent, respectively
