Sep 20, 2018 (newstodate): Iceland will see a bit less of Wizz Air at Keflavik Airport from summer 2019.
The carrier is to close down its base at Poznan, in Poland, from MArch 30, 2019, which means the suspension of flights on five routes currently served from the destinations.
One of these routes connects Poznan and Keflavik on Iceland, opened only on March 31, 2017, and operated seasonally with three weekly rotations.
Despite this route closure, Wizz Air will however remain a frequent operator at Keflavik Airport.
Wizz Air first entered the Icelandic market with flights from Gdansk, in Poland, from June 19, 2015, adding flights from Warsaw, in Poland, to Keflavik from May 13, 2016, and from Budapest from March 30, 2016.
Since May 28, 2016, Wizz Air has been operating flights to Iceland from Riga in Latvia; from March 26, 2017, the carrier added operations between Katowice, in Poland, and Keflavik, offering two weekly rotations, and starting from May 31, 2017, Wizz Air launched flights from Prague in the Czech Republic to Iceland - and starting from March 31, 2017, the carrier added the route between Poznan and Keflavik that is now to go.
The latest new seasonal Wizz Air route to Keflavik in summer 2018 was launched from Vienna with three weekly rotations to Keflavik from March 23, 2018.
