Sep 05, 2018 (newstodate): Not for the first time, the Swedish carrier BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines has again adjusted its orders placed with Bombardier for 10 new aircraft to replace its existing fleet of Avro RJ aircraft.
Initially slated for delivery from 2013, deliveries of the Airbus A220 were last rescheduled to start from the beginning of 2020, but the scheme has again been adjusted.
Citing issues like an unstable domestic market, taxation on civil aviation, and the weak Swedish currency, BRA is thus negotiating a delay in deliveries of the aircraft poised to replace the carrier's existing fleet of 12 Avro jets including two RJ85 and 10 RJ100 aircraft.
-The choice of the Bombardier CS aircraft was made not least because of its environment-friendly characteristics, but with today's uncertainty we will instead continue operating our existing fleet of AVRO aircraft despite their significantly higher fuel consumption, Anders Engzell, BRA Communications, told newstodate in February 2017 as the earlier delay was announced.
The argument obviously still holds...
