Sep 20, 2018 (newstodate): Ryanair's new charter subsidiary in Poland, Ryanair Sun is planning to increase the number of aircraft on Polish register four-fold already in 2019.
In the fleet of Ryanair Sun are now five Polish-registered Boeing 737-800 aircraft, but plans are to move another 15 aircraft to Poland in 2019, bringing the fleet to 20.
The intention is not, however, to increase the grip on the competitive but highly seasonal Polish air charter market, but to exploit the cost benefits from operating the fleet out of Poland rather than the Irish environment.
The Polish Ryanair Sun aircraft will thus be deployed for flights on Ryanair's other routes out of Ireland and other markets.
Ryanair Sun was granted its Polish AOC on April 3, 2018, initially with one Boeing 737 aircraft on Polish registration.
Starting out from the Summer 2018 schedule, Ryanair Sun has based its fleet at Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw for flights on behalf of tour operators TUI and Poznan's Grecos Holidays to leisure destinations primarily in Greece, Cyprus, Spain and other Mediterranean destinations.
Earlier, ambitions were to grow Ryanair Sun's fleet to 15 aircraft in 2019 and to 25 in 2020 - but the bar has obviously been raised.
Until now, the three largest provider of charter capacity in the Polish market are Enter Air, Travel Service and Small Planet Airlines Poland - but Ryanair Sun will probably challenge these positions..
