Sep 05, 2018 (newstodate): A direct scheduled flight to be launched connecting Armenia and Japan?
This is at least on the wishing list of Armenia's foreign minister currently visiting Japan.
-We hope that in the near future a direct flight between Yerevan and Tokyo will open, she is quoted by an Armenian source as saying at a joint press conference with the Japanese Foreign Minister.
The route would not, however, thrive on the Armenian diaspora living in Japan that counts only some 100 people.
If an Armenian carrier was to launch services to Japan it would be the country's new airline - Armenia Airways based at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport.
For a start, the airline has acquired two Airbus A310 aircraft from the Romanian carrier Tarom that earlier used the aircraft for flights on routes from Romania to USA and Canada.
