Sep 12, 2018 (newstodate): There seems to be hardly any limits to the ambitions of Primera Air.
After announcing in 2018 the launch of transatlantic services during the summer season 2019 from Berlin Tegel, Brussels and Frankfurt with Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, the carrier is now also airing its plans to start flights from Madrid to Newark and Toronto from August 16, 2019, and to Boston from the following day.
In May 2017, Primera Air signed a contract with Boeing for delivery of eight new Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, adding a follow-up order for another two aircraft in December 2017.
Deliveries of the aircraft fitted with extra fuel tanks to sustain long-haul flights with high passenger loads will start from early 2019.
The aircraft will provide the backbone for Primera Air on traffic between Europe and North America, and the carrier will become the first airline to operate this new aircraft type.
Primera Air is part of Primera Travel Group with travel agencies and tour operating companies in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
