Sep 27, 2018 (newstodate): Today marks the first flight by Ethiopian Airlines' freighter service from Oslo to Guangzhou, in southern China, thus fulfilling the dreams long nurtured among Norway's seafood exporters.
The carrier will be operating the service with a Boeing 777-200F flying from Addis Abeba to Lagos, in Nigeria, to Oslo, and continuing to Guangzhou via a stop at Liege to load other European shipments for China.
The service will be operated with a weekly flight, but due to the upcoming Golden Week in China the October 4 flight will be suspended, leaving October 11, 2018, as the next call at Oslo Airport.
With this latest addition, Oslo Airport will have 15 weekly freighter flights carrying seafood shipments to the world's market places.
Emirates is thus operating one weekly rotation, Qatar Airways two, Korean Airlines three, Turkish Airlines two, AirBridgeCargo two, CAL Cargo Airlines one and Atlas Air two.
On the agenda is also the opening of freighter operations by Saudia Cargo mulling plans for operating a freighter aircraft from Jeddah via a point in Central Europe to Oslo for onward flight to New York JFK to lift Norwegian seafood exports to the North American market.
Besides these carriers, UPS and DHL is also lifting Norwegian seafood out of Oslo via hubs in Europe.
