Sep 12, 2018 (newstodate): An opening of a new route to provide Norwegian seafood exporters with direct air link to the Chinese markets is reportedly under preparation.
According to Norwegian media, the Norwegian company Pole Position Logistics is behind the plans aiming for launch of operations from summer 2019 at Evenes Airport, in the county's northernmost part close to major seafood production sites.
The plans reportedly comprise flights by a yet-unnamed carrier flying in with a Boeing 777F from a German airport and continuing to Beijing or Shanghai after the call at Evenes Airport.
newstodate has so far not succeeded in getting confirmation of these plans from either Evenes Airport or Pole Position Logistics.
-Starting in 2004, FedEx for a period operated a once-weekly MD-11F flight from Evenes to Tokyo Narita via Anchorage, but today we do not have any scheduled commercial freighters at Evenes, while there are several ad-hoc military AN-124 freighter operations proving that the airport can indeed handle large cargo flights, Anne-Britt Bakken, Evenes Airport Manager, told newstodate as reported on April 26, 2018.
