Sep 13, 2018 (newstodate): TUI Nordic has started a process towards outsourcing its short-haul charter flights to partner airlines.
As a first step, TUI Nordic is now in discussions with unions involved as the decision will concern current TUI operations at the airports of Copenhagen, Malmo, Helsinki and Oslo, while operations at Stockholm are not part of the process.
If carried through, TUI Nordic's flights out of Copenhagen and Helsinki will be served by Jet Time, TUI Nordic flights out of Oslo would be served by Norwegian, while TUI Nordic's current own bases at Malmo, Oslo and Helsinki together employing some 150 staff will be closed down.
While the proposed restructuring is thus in a sensitive stage pending the outcome of negations with unions, Jet Time prefers not to comment on the planned changes.
-We are watching developments closely and are in close contact with TUI Nordic that has for years been a major charter customer for us. Apart from that we have no further comments, says Birthe Madsen, Jet Time VP Management Support.
If the restructuring is carried through as now proposed, the changes affecting Helsinki will take effect from May 2019, while the changes concerning Oslo, Malmo and Copenhagen will be implemented already before the end of this year, other sources say.
