Sep 06, 2018 (newstodate): Effective from September 1, 2018, the Chilean carrier LATAM Cargo has opened its 10th global hub and second off-line station at Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, to meet a strong demand for transporting pharmaceuticals to the South American markets.
-From its strategic location, the new hub will feed the Amsterdam-Viracopos-Santiago; Brussels-Montevideo; Amsterdam-Brasilia; and Frankfurt-Guarulhos routes, thus improving the service provided to pharma companies in Denmark, Norway and Sweden by offering a better option to ship medicines and vaccines to patients in Latin America, a release from LATAM Cargo reads.
-The offline hub will have regular GDP-compliant refrigerated truck services.
In a mail correspondence with newstodate, Mara Teresa Escobar, LATAM Airlines Cargo Jefa Asuntos Corporativos, has further added this clarification:
-I would like to highlight that LATAM Cargo has not claimed to have a CEIV certified station at CPH because its cargo handler WFS at Copenhagen Airport is not certified as CEIV PHARMA yet.
-Nevertheless, LATAM Cargo has been awarded with the CEIV PHARMA certification as an Airline in March 2017 and as a Handler in the MIA hub in November 2017, says Ms Escobar.
As earlier reported by newstodate, WFS Denmark's CEIV certification is in progress, but has not yet reached the stage for IATA to start an auditing process that may at best not be completed before well into 2019.
