Sep 11, 2018 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has run into delays with delivery of its last of four Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
The aircraft was expected to arrive in this year's Q3 - but will not reach the carrier before April 2019 due to unforeseen snags in the pre-delivery procedures.
The aircraft was crucial to the implementation of the coming winter schedule that will now have to be adjusted.
The first Boeing 777-200ER was delivered in February 2018, the latest delivery was completed on June 5, 2018, and the three aircraft are now deployed in service on the carrier's long-haul flights from Kiev to New York, Beijing, and Bangkok.
The four aircraft have been sourced from Asiana Airlines and placed with Ukraine International Airlines under a lease agreement with AerCap.
The new aircraft will gradually replace the existing fleet of four Boeing 767 aircraft from 2019 and allow UIA to launch new intercontinental routes to destinations including Toronto and Shanghai.
