Sep 28, 2018 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is working hard to upgrade its airports infrastructure.
As one latest case, the airfield lighting systems of the country's capital Astana International Airport is in the process of being upgraded aiming at obtaining ICAO IIIB category allowing for take-offs and landings in poor weather conditions.
Works on implementation of new runway lighting systems is ongoing and slated for completion by the end of October 2018, followed by calibration and certification.
Once implemented, airlines operating at the airport will reap cost benefits and raise regularity from avoiding needs for use of alternate airports.
