Sep 24, 2018 (newstodate): Georgia's new privately-owned carrier MyWay Airlines is expanding its route network with a new European destination.
Starting from October 28, 2018, the carrier will launch services on the route connecting Budapest and Tbilisi with three weekly rotations using Boeing 737-700 aircraft as the first direct nonstop air link between the two destinations.
On June 22, 2018, MyWay Airlines obtained its TCO, third country operator license by the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA.
MyWay Airlines thus gained the right to fly to 28 European countries that are members of the EASA, as well as four countries that are members of the European Free Trade Association - Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein.
In the fleet now are two ex-Shandong Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft delivered in October and November 2017, respectively, a third aircraft was delivered in July 2018, and a fourth will be added in December 2018.
Plans are also to acquire a wide-body Boeing 777 for flights to New York and Beijing as part of the strategy to turn Tbilisi Airport into a transfer hub for traffic between China and CIS countries as well a markets in the Middle East.
The airline is part of the activities of the Chinese investment group Hualing that is also behind the establishing of a new industrial zone in Kutaisi as well as numerous real estate projects in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
Serving as MyWay Airlines Dep Commercial Director from the start of 2018 is Gregory Pomerantsev.
A Belarus national, Mr Pomerantsev is a well-known figure in the Scandinavian, Baltic and East European aviation industry with a career starting with SAS as Dep Country Manager Belarus from August 1996 and later working with airBaltic in various positions from February 1997 till March 2012 as SVP Marketing & Sales.
