Sep 10, 2018 (newstodate): Clouds seem to be gathering over the future of Cathay Pacific's seasonal route between Hong Kong and Copenhagen.
The route was opened with the inaugural flight on May 1, 2018, with three weekly rotations using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The period of services was originally set to end by October 12, 2018, but the service will later prolonged until October 26, 2018 and expected to reopen again from summer 2019.
But now Airlineroute's twitter account reports that "Cathay Pacific's service to Copenhagen is closed for reservation for most class of service, except full-fare J/W/Y class, for flights on/after 03JUN19. All class of service remains closed for booking for the month of May 2019."
This would indicate that the end may be in sight for Cathay Pacific's flights to Copenhagen as this summer's schedule ends.
If this holds true, the driver behind this would presumably be the opening of year-round flights between Copenhagen and Hong Kong by SAS starting from September 30, 2018, as the carrier moves its Hong Kong flights since September 10, 2015 from Stockholm to Copenhagen.'
Star Alliance carrier SAS will then be offering five weekly Airbus A340-300 rotations between Copenhagen and Hong Kong.
SAS last served Hong Kong with flights from Copenhagen Airport in Denmark until 2004.
