Sep 21, 2018 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is eager to develop its air transport infrastructure and has big plans for construction of new airports.
Acting Deputy Chairperson of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan Tota Amirova has thus revealed the government's plan for construction of 16 new airports in the country over the coming three years.
Due to a shortage of an efficient road system binding the large country together, development of air services is needed to promote tourism as well as inter-regional trade and communications.
Today, Kazakhstan has a total of 18 airports, 16 of which are open for international traffic, and 12 of these are certified at ICAO standards.
