Aug 21, 2018 (newstodate): The Icelandic LCC WOW Air is in the market for attracting new shareholders in an effort to bolster the carrier.
The carrier's promotional material claims that WOW Air is now accounting for 37 percent of all air traffic at Keflavik Airport and is heading towards overtaking the country's national carrier Icelandair already in 2019, ending 2018 with 3.6 mio passengers and targeting 3.9 mio passengers in 2019.
With some 1,400 staff in 2018, WOW Air now operates a fleet of 20 aircraft, all on lease contracts, including 16 on operating lease contracts.
The new capital intake aims at securing the financing of new aircraft deliveries after a year with a substantial operating loss.
