Aug 21, 2018 (newstodate): Sweden's capital airport, Stockholm Arlanda is seeing brisk growth in cargo volumes in 2018, thanks to the opening of more intercontinental flights and more flights on existing routes.
During January-July 2017, the airport handled a total of 55,839 tonnes of cargo against 48,758 tonnes in 2017 - an increase by 14 percent, y-o-y.
The increase was driven by a growth by 14.6 percent, y-o-y, in international cargo volumes totaling 54,750 tonnes in January-July 2018.
China Eastern introduced four weekly rotations starting from June 16, 2018, between Shanghai and Stockholm with Airbus A330-200 aircraft in a program so far running till October 24, 2018.
Starting from May 16, 2018, Korean Air Cargo has introduced the Boeing 747-8F freighter at Stockholm Arlanda, replacing the Boeing 777F, and Turkish Airlines is now serving the route from Istanbul with Airbus A330 aircraft on certain rotations, also boosting the cargo capacity at Stockholm Arlanda.
