Aug 24, 2018 (newstodate): Serbia's Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is seeing strong growth in 2018, building on record-high figures already in 2017.
This year, the airport expects to be handling some 5.8 mio passengers, which would be another record.
Already during the period January-July 2018, the airport has been handling 3.134 mio passengers which is seven percent up on 2017.
In 2017, the airport handled 5.343 million passengers, an increase by nine percent, y-o-y, and growth was also seen in the cargo segment where volumes were up no less than 42 percent, to a total of 19,758 tonnes.
Further growth is awaited after the French company Vinci emerged in January 2018 as the winner of the tender for managing Serbia's Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.
VINCI thus submitted the best bid for the 25-year concession for the financing, development through construction and reconstruction, maintenance and management of infrastructure of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.
It is understood that the winner of the tender will undertake the construction of a new terminal, runway and supporting infrastructure including a hotel, a new cargo center, and a car park.
