Aug 17, 2018 (newstodate): The global shortage of pilots is now making its impact on the Russian carrier Rossiya as well.
So far recruiting Russian pilots only, the carrier has announced a recruitment drive to attract foreign cockpit crews to its Boeing 737, 777, 747 and Airbus 320 aircraft.
The pilots will be based at Rossiya's bases in Moscow, St Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don and receive wages in the upper levels of the carrier's scheme.
In the carrier's fleet are 17 Boeing 737-800, nine Boeing 747-400 and seven Boeing 777 as well as 30 Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
Rossiya is majority-owned by Aeroflot that has also been recruiting foreign pilots to balance its deficiency of Russian cockpit crew members.
Russia may be especially hit by China's huge growth in commercial aviation that has attracted many Russian pilots due to higher wages offered by Chinese airlines.
