Aug 07, 2018 (newstodate): Plans for the Russian carrier Pobeda, part of the Aeroflot Group, to launch flights to Finland seem to be maturing.
So far, industry sources said Pobeda will start scheduled flights from Moscow Vnukovo Airport to Helsinki Airport by October 5, 2018, and this is now substantiated by a Pobeda spokeswoman talking to Russian media.
According to this, the flights will start before the end of this summer schedule and continue in the coming new winter 2018/19 schedule, while no further details on frequency are yet available.
So far, Pobeda's press spokeswoman Elina Selivanova has not responded to several mail inquiries by newstodate for a verification.
The carrier launched flights on domestic routes in 2014, but in October 2015 the airline also obtained permits to add international flights as well.
The first international flight by Pobeda was launched on December 19, 2015, on the route between Moscow Vnukovo and Slovakia's Bratislava Airport.
Now operating a fleet of 18 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, Pobeda has since opened flights on routes from Moscow to Milan, Minsk in Belarus, and to Cologne and Dresden in Germany, and has recently also been cleared to start flights from Moscow to London, Stuttgart, Tbilisi and Geneva.
