Aug 31, 2018 (newstodate): As reported by newstodate yesterday, Danish Air Transport is to become the major shareholder in Finnair's provider of regional air services, Norra, poised to acquire 60 percent of the shares.
In the news release, Jesper Rungholm, DAT CEO & owner, described the acquisition as "a strategic partnership."
-Norra and DAT will remain to separate companies under own managements, and there are no plans for a merger, says Mr Rungholm.
-The strategic character of the acquisition refers to the longer-term benefits of joining purchasing power and optimizing the resources as to maintenance, and pooling of technical and operational knowledge as we both operate ATR aircraft.
-To this comes also the experience, new to DAT, of Norra's operations with Embraer 190 aircraft that will pose a new potential opportunity for DAT, fitting into our niche charter production, says Mr Rungholm.
In the fleet of Norra are 12 ATR-72 and 12 Embraer 190LR aircraft, while DAT also operates a fleet of ATR aircraft of various types, as well as Airbus and MD aircraft.
